Back to school in more ways than one!

Diana Woodward is a 50 year old Tasmanian woman who has gained a whole new perspective on life following her involvement in a local Jobwise Workshop and Jobwise Self Help Group.

Following 16 years of running her own business, Diana felt that she needed to slow down her hectic work schedule. She was in need of a change, but she felt overwhelmed because it had been so many years since she was last in the employment market.

When she saw the Hobart Jobwise Workshop advertised, Diana thought that it would be a great place to start. She found the workshop to be very informative and motivational, and it changed her perception of mature age employment opportunities. Having been inspired by what she had already learned, Diana jumped at the chance to continue to learn more at the subsequent Jobwise Self Help Groups.

Armed with the new skills and information that she had gained at the workshop and self help groups, she sold her business and attended a TAFE course to refresh her computer skills. Diana has now secured a full-time contract as an Administrative Assistant to the Principal of a private school, and she is revelling in her change of career.

"Before I attended the Jobwise Self Help Group, I would never have considered applying for my current position. Not only did it give the practical skills I needed to apply, but most importantly it provided me the confidence and encouragement that I needed," Diana said.
