Queensland held the first of its Jobwise Outreach workshops at the Mt Gravatt Bowls Club on 20 November 2006.
Hosted by JOBfutures, it is one of eight workshops under the Mature Age Employment and Workplace Strategy (MAEWS) to assist mature age people aged 45 and over to find work within the Brisbane city outer ring and Gold Coast city region.
Attention levels were high as presenters and guest speakers outlined a range of local programmes and services blended with personal stories of triumph and success to encourage the audience's job seeking efforts.
The slogan of the day was, ‘I'm not old … I'm experienced!’
Presenters included representatives from Job Network and NEIS provider Sarina Russo, Metropolitan South Institute of TAFE, the Queenslanders Working Together programme and local employer, Mt Gravatt Bowls Club.
The workshop concluded with an invitation to participants to enrol in a free ten-week self-help group to receive one-on-one assistance and support to find work.
Information about other Jobwise workshops around Australia can be found on the Workshops page.
